Carrie Scoggins is a contemporary violin maker based out of Salt Lake City, UT. She grew up playing violin and viola and became interested in violin making and repairs in college. Carrie graduated from the Violin Making School of America in 1983, and in 1988 opened Scoggins & Scoggins Violin Shop with her husband, Michael Scoggins. With the growing demand of her exceptional instruments, Carrie closed the shop in 2016 to focus exclusively on building instruments. She is a highly regarded maker and member of AFVBM. This violin balances brilliance and clarity with core and depth and projects boldly. It has a beautiful dark red-orange over gold varnish, and an elegant two-piece maple back with descending flames. This violin’s versatility would suit the advanced player well.
