Italian luthier Filippo Fasser was born in 1967 in Salò, Italy. After graduating from the International Violin Making School of Cremona in 1988, he established his own workshop in the heart of Brescia. He currently builds violins, violas, and cellos on commission for international concert artists.
In 2001, Fasser co-founded Officina Musicale, an organization that promotes the work of Brescian artists through conferences, festivals, and exhibitions. He has curated several instrument exhibitions, including those featuring the instruments of Paolo Maggini and Stefano Scarampella.
Awards for Fasser’s instruments include a silver medal from the Violin Society of America in 2008. Numerous celebrated string players own instruments made by Fasser, including violinist Elisa Citterio, violist Yuri Bashmet, and cellists Mario Brunello, Enrico Dindo, and Sol Gabetta.
